Jo is a sculpture and movement-based artist, and guest of Lenapehoking, AKA: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They received their MFA from University of Pennsylvania, studying methods for exploring the psyche in material interactions, specifically the processing of psychological shadows by way of embodied language analysis. They have been awarded several grants including the Lawrence Shprintz for creative performance and are invited to art residencies including Vermont Studio Center. They currently work as a curator at AUTOMAT Gallery in Philadelphia and study at UMass Amherst. In addition to their studio practice, they write for publications such as Ceramics: Art and Perception, featuring topics in somatic-psychology, relational philosophy, and poetic postactivism.
